Social Video:

  • Facebook: As users scroll through their newsfeed, they‘re met with dozens of videos. It’s estimated that 85% of Facebook videos are watched without any sound, so closed captioning is a must when uploading videos on this platform. As far as length, social videos should be shorter in length, 30 seconds to 1 minute in length is recommended. Since videos auto-play, as they’re scrolled over, the first 3 seconds are the most important when determining if someone will continue watching.
  • Instagram: Instagram has a maximum video length of 1 minute, but 15 to 30-second videos will be your best at engagement and full views on the platform.
  • Twitter: The Twitter world is quick and fast with words and videos. The max length that can be uploaded is two minutes and twenty seconds, but shorter videos perform better here as well so aim for the 30-second mark.


  • In-Stream: Video ad plays before, during, or after other videos. After 5 seconds, the viewer has an option to skip the ad.
  • Video Discovery: Video ads are used to promote a video in places of discovery, including next to related YouTube videos, as part of a YouTube search result, or alongside other content across the Display Network.
  • Bumper: Video ads are 6 seconds or shorter and play before, during, or after another video. Viewers do not have the option to skip the ad.
